Festive Style Guide with Max Fashion

Hello Chicas,

Festive season is around the corner and so is the fever to shop to look one's best during the celebration. As a kid, I had always loved festivals for the numerous shopping trips I took with my mother. For me, the best part about the festivities was to get all decked up to attend the Puja and later going out with friends and family for pandal hopping followed by dining at my favorite restaurant. Fast forward to 2017, nothing has changed much except for the fact that I am no more accompanied by Mom for shopping. This year I did my Pujo shopping from Max Fashion from their recently launched festive collection.

Max Fashion celebrated the advent of festive season by launching their new collection. The collection is about bringing back the rich grandeur of Indian tradition yet giving it a modern touch. Max through its ‘Tavisha’ range offers a range of stylized garments comprising classic combinations of voluminous, vibrant and layered skirts with trendy cholis or crop tops, to complete the grand look of the festive season. It is a fusion of tradition and latest trends on the block and you can buy it from your nearest Max stores or online here

From flared maxi skirt to embroidered tops their new collection is all about ethereal timeless textures and classic beauty. Once such outfit caught my eyes when I was there at the Max Fashion Store for their collection launch event. It was a gorgeous maxi skirt in maroon. The skirt was very simple with brocade detailing at the hem, however the voluminous flare made it look so royal. To style the skirt, I picked a black top with a thin strap. The top had golden detailing on it which went well with the Marsala skirt. As I was shooting on a rather sunny day, I tied my hair in a low bun and added a pair of black round sunnies to give a retro look.

I shot the outfit at the Parasnath Jain temple which is located right next to my house. This temple is some 150 years old and its construction was initiated in the year 1867 by Ray Badridas Bahadur. The interiors of the temple has been lavishly decorated with high quality mirrors, multi hued stones and glass made mosaics, while the outdoor area is surrounded with many hued flower gardens and sparkling fountains. The garden itself is decorated with blocks of glass mosaics and silver European-styled statues.  One of the major attractions of the temple is a lamp, which is burning with ghee perpetually inside the sanctum sanctorum, since the inception of the temple in 1867The whole environment of the temple radiates peace and serenity that has a very calming effect on the body and soul.

A Neutral Saga

Hello Chicas,

Neutral colors continue to dominate the fashion industry after taking over the fall fashion last year. I'm personally all about wearing bright and loud colors so this time I thought of trying something different and challenged myself to create a look with neutral colors.

So, what are neutral colors?

A color can be considered as a neutral on the basis of how effectively it blends into with other colors. Neutral or universal colors comprise of black, white, grey and brown. Different tints of the above mentioned shades is also referred to as neutrals, like, ivory, cream, tan, camel. Although they may sound dull and boring to many of us, but styling them is the easiest job. Also, one cannot ignore the fact that these colors are so versatile, I mean we can just throw a pair of beige shoes on any outfit as they go with almost every color.

Why neutrals?

  • A neutral outfit can be one's go to to look. They literally go with everything and anything.
  • One can wear them again and again, unlike other outfits in statement colors which cannot be repeated often.
  • Neutrals are versatile as you can wear them a number of times with other neutral as well as bright colors thereby creating multiple looks.
  • Neutrals are always on trend and can be worn all year round.

How to wear neutrals?

  • For someone who is not yet ready to give into this trend, they may experiment with different shades of colors like navy blue or pale pink which are also neutrals.
  • Neutrals build the foundation of our basic wardrobe. Buying basic tees or trousers in tan or military green is the best way to incorporate them in our daily wear.
  • Neutral accessories are the best investment. They go with most of the outfits and helps to achieve a sleek look. Footwear, belts and handbags in neutrals are classic buys and never go out of style.
  • One can also add a pop of color to a neutral outfit. A red blouse with a white skirt or a tamarind tote with an all black ensemble will break the otherwise monotonous look.
  • Special attention must be given to the fit and shape. As the color is not the major focus here so, naturally the attention diverts to details like fit. An ill-fitted neutral outfit can make one look sluggish.
How did I wear neutrals?

Coming to my outfit, I chose a pleated maxi skirt in olive which has buttoned sides and an attached buckle belt to it. I was pretty happy with the color and the material of the skirt, but something which totally annoys me about maxi skirts from Forever 21 is their length. They are abnormally long, like even after wearing a pair of 5 inch heels. Anyway, being a petite I am used to this situation so got the skirt customized by a local tailor. I have paired the skirt with a peach floral print top which has a round neckline and bell sleeves. The blue floral motifs on it added a pop to the outfit. Accessory wise, I have again opted for neutral colors, a brown tassel sling and a black choker. Finally, a messy braid and coral lips completed the look.

Vintage Vibes!

Hello Chicas,

How have you all been? I started my new year with a mini vacation to Darjeeling and Gangtok. I had one heck of a time on the hills, enjoyed playing in the snow, dressed up to my heart's content, ate delicious food and last but not the least did some street shopping. I have shared a few pictures taken from my cellphone on my Instagram and Facebook account. I'm glad to have taken this break, couldn't have asked for a better start of the new year.

Coming to today's outfit, I shot this one a while back when there was no trace of winters. I fell in love with this maxi skirt, the moment I saw it. Maxi skirts are a must have in one's wardrobe as they are versatile and can be worn all year round. The maxi skirt I have worn is in a beautiful light pink shade with  pretty pleats on it which added to its flirtatious beauty. I have paired the skirt with a delicate floral embroidered lace top. The mock neckline of the cropped blouse gave a very vintage look.

As the outfit was all romantic and girly, I decided to make it edgy by accessorizing it with combat boots. Round sunglass and dainty pearl baubles added to the retro vibes. The low bun I'm sporting was very last minute and I have no idea how I did it. To complete the look, I went for a bold red pout which brightened up the entire outfit.

Pretty Pleats

 Hello Chicas,

How are you all doing? I'm totally home bound these days, preparing for my exams having no time for myself due to which my workout regime has gone for a toss. Can't wait to hit the gym again.

Coming to today's outfit, it's a casual summer attire. The pleated maxi skirt is the center of focus of today's outfit which I have paired with a graphic print crop top to dress down the look. This maxi skirt is currently a favorite in my wardrobe, the reason being its beautiful leaf green hue and the amazing fit. Also, it's flowy silhouette makes it a comfortable wear in this scorching heat.

Accessorized the outfit with retro round sunnies, chain linked neck-piece worn as a bracelet and a studded envelope clutch. And of course Ruby Woo lips to up the glam quotient. :)
Enjoy the pics.

How to Style a Petite Frame!

Hello Chicas,

Today's post is about how to style a petite frame which is characterized by short and slim body type. I'm myself 5''2' but I don't believe in stereotype dressing where you are supposed to stick to a particular type of clothing meant for short people. I mean, don't you hate it when you are frowned upon on buying a maxi dress or skirt and all the 'gyans' you hear on how it is not meant for short people. If you are one of them who like to experiment and try new trends and love to break the rules read on the tips and tricks below:

High-Waist Styles

Nothing works better than high-waist clothing for short people, whether it's a high rise denim or a skirt, so stock it up girls! Skirt or denim starting from high waist gives an illusion of longer legs and thus making you look taller. In the pics below I am sporting dungaree skirts, one in floral print and the other one in denim. I'm not into flat shoes at all, I just can't concentrate in flats. :D However, in this particular shoot for plaid and denim look, I wore these yellow flat booties, but as you can see the high waist skirt did the trick and made me look taller without any help of high heels!
