Transitional Weather Dressing

Hello Chicas,

So it's officially that time of the year when the weather seems to be going through an identity crisis. One day, it's hot and sunny while the next day we are subjected to cool breezy weather. As these early days of spring are turning out to be super unpredictable, it's time to gear up for the transitional weather dressing. Now is the perfect time to take out your short dresses for a spin and layering them with pieces from your winter wardrobe. And today I'll be talking about one such outfit which is perfect to wear during this transitional time.

On one such confused weather day, I wore a maroon bodycon dress which has this tie-up detailing on the neckline, this trend has been my favorite for quite some time now as I find it very sexy. The dress is in jersey fabric, making it light and airy. I have layered the dress with a beige shrug which has fringes on the hem. This shrug from KAZO has buttons on the shoulder and can be also worn as a top. I really loved the final outcome of mixing these two warm toned colors. Coming to accessories, I have gone all color coordinated this time with a pair of chunky high heels in cream and oxblood lips.

So this is one way to mix and match different pieces from your wardrobe without having to compromise your winter wardrobe soon. My next post will also be on early spring weather but with bright pastels.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Hello Chicas,

The soaring high temperature these days makes us all wish to be clad in minimal clothing sans accessories. I came across one such feather like outfit recently while sitting at home with a tub of ice-cream and hunting for summer clothing online. It was a beautiful peasant dress with a delicate paisley detailing along the neckline and sleeves. Peasant dresses are characterized by easy flowing silhouette with a certain folksy element in the form of floral embroidery and dramatic sleeves. It's perfect for people looking for comfort without compromising on the style quotient. Coming to my outfit, the soothing white color of the dress and the airy chiffon material makes it appropriate for summers. This ethereal tunic like dress can also be worn over a pair of denim or leggings. To give the look a bohemian twist, I have added a golden floral head gear, which is nothing but a hair band worn across the forehead. I have never been a big fan of accessories and considering the current weather condition I opted for metallic tattoos, which I feel is such a great alternative to the usual ornaments. A tan fringe bag along with gladiator heels tied up the look together.

Colorful Stripes

Hello Chicas,

Classic stripes with contrasting hues makes a comeback as one of the most wearable trend for spring/summer 2016. When we think stripes, we think of the usual black and white or navy and white combinations, but this season it's all about rainbow color stripes. From linear to zigzag pattern, infused with candy colors, this trend makes such a fun wear for spring/summer. I got hold of this shift dress in green and wine stripes with a self-tie belted waist. The light chiffon material of the dress makes it very comfortable and soothing in this warm weather. I have kept the look casual by accessorizing it with white slip ons and black fringe sling bag. With the sunny days approaching us, I'm stocking up on bright lipsticks and this orange lip crayon from Chambor has become my go to lip color.

Monochrome Loving

Hello Chicas,

Monochrome is having a fashion moment as the sixties trends hit the runways. I am all about playing with bright colors, but I do own a few staple black and white pieces in my closet. The simplicity of monochrome makes it a timeless classic and one can always find new ways to style them.

The look I'm sporting today is a white shift dress with a ribbed pattern. I usually buy off whites and creams, but this dress has to be the whitest white I have in my wardrobe. The polo neckline and the ribbed knit texture kept me warm enough in the last few retreating winter days. As the dress was very basic, I have layered it with a sleeveless mesh jacket in black. To break the monotony of black and white, I went for colorful accessories except for the white slip ons. I have added a blue reflective sunnies and a light pink studded sling to pep up the look.

Love is in the air!

Hello Chicas,

It's officially the love week and today's ootd happens to be a valentine's special post! The moment I saw this dress, I could imagine myself wearing it on a lunch date with my girlies! The flirty open shoulder along with the sweetheart neckline and the twirl worthy skater pattern makes it a perfect valentine's wear. Also, the color light pink is the icing on the cake.  Of late I'm buying a lot of pinks which I hope is just a phase. The gingham print on the dress is very much in tune with the winter fashion. To accessorie the outfit, I have added a woollen beret and sheer stiletoes in navy blue. I didn't want to miss out on the color of love red, so I added a studded clutch and wore scarlett lips. The entire look put together exuded parisian vibe which is why I chose to shoot this outfit in Nicco Park near the miniature Eiffel.

Celebrity Style: Deepika Padukone - Tamasha

Hello Chicas,

Today's post is a special one as I'm doing a break-up of the look sported by my style icon and inspiration Deepika Padukone in her upcoming movie Tamasha. I'm a huge fan of Deepika, this women gives me serious style goals! She has come such a long way from a reserved girl next door kinda girl to a bold fashion diva who doesn't shy away from experimenting and trying out new trends. Whether it's a saree or a pant suit, she carries it off with equal elan.

In the movie, Deepika is seen in a very casual chic look sporting the recent trends, from fringe bags to sneakers in neon shades. The look I have created is from the song Matargasti where she is wearing a sleeveless lip print shirt on a navy blue A-line dress with barely there make-up. I found this shirt few months back on Flipkart and the quirky lip print on it made it an obvious must have in my wardrobe. As it was my first apparel purchase from Flipkart, I was a little skeptical about the quality of the product, but it turned out to be a decent buy and I am quite happy with the fit and material.

Coming to how I recreated Deepika's look from the movie, I have added the lip print shirt on a Cami acid wash dress with a sweetheart neckline which I absolutely adore. To accessorize the outfit, I went for a sleek brown belt along with my tan fringe bag and block heels. Taking cue from Deepika, I parted my hair in the middle and wore it down. Make-up wise I went for kohled eyes and bright red lips to amp up the look.

Swing Dress!

Hello Chicas,

So it's that time of the year again where the weather gets super confusing. There's a nip in the air but, the moment I start layering myself up it gets hot and uncomfortable. To switch on the AC or fan, to apply a body butter or a moisturizer, to take a hot water bath or not, life is super confusing these days.

Coming to today's OOTD, this has to be the most comfortable outfit I have ever worn. I can spend my entire day in this dress without complaining. Oversize dresses are a thing right now and it looks flattering on all body types. What makes it comfortable is the flowy silhouette which makes it apt on a hot and humid day. The dress I'm wearing is in a coral shade in an A-line pattern. The relaxed fit of the dress makes it really easy to move around and is my go to outfit on a busy day.

I have dressed up the outfit with a golden cuff, midi rings and a minaudiere. One can dress it down for a more casual look by layering it up with a leather jacket and sneakers. I can't wait to try this look myself in winters. For a color block effect, I have added blue stilettos and sunnies to pep up the look.

Fall in Pinafore!

Hello Chicas,

Today's OOTD is yet another a casual one! I'm sporting a denim overall in floral print! I have been obsessed with denim for a while now, from pencil skirt to shirt dress, I have bought it all but didn't really get a chance to wear them due to the scorching heat! Denims are huge this season and with the slight dip in temperature, now is the perfect time to flaunt it.

I personally love jumper dresses and skirts for the cool vibe they exude. And the cutesy overall daisy print on this one was an icing on the cake for me as I totally adore daisy prints. To pair the pinafore dress with, I went for a classic white shirt. A pinafore can be worn with just about anything. Here are a few ways to style it:
  • Add a quirky graphic tee and sneakers for a casual chic look.
  • With the upcoming winters, you can pair it up with a sweater or a turtle neck top for a cozy ensemble.
  • One can also wear a pinafore dress as a tunic with skinny bottoms and ankle length boots.
  • Pair it up with a geometric print shirt for an edgy look.
I have accessorized my outfit with a sling in baby pink and matchy pink sunnies. And the bright fuchsia lips completed the look. I am not at all into pink lipsticks as I feel it doesn't really go with my skin tone. But this particular fuchsia shade from Inglot looked good enough. What do you think?

Floral Drop Waist Dress

Hello Chicas,

Today's outfit post is a casual one which I recently wore for a lunch date with my girlfriends. I wore this cute floral drop waist dress that is a bodycon dress with a flared hem. Wearing  a small flower print outfit is one way to distract attention from the problem areas. So curvy women should totally avoid big prints. As the dress was a short one, I went for smaller block heels and gave my usual sky high heels a miss. Recently I read somewhere about how French girls match shoes with their dresses which I found really cool and would love to share with you all. So it goes like, if the outfit you are wearing is above the knee pair it with flats and for the ones below the knee style it with high heels. So that's how you strut like a French girl. A red cross body sling with a matching red reflective sunnies completed the look.
