Gingham Girl!

Hello Chicas,

Today's OOTD is a casual one! As the weather gets warmer, it's time to ditch those sweaters and heavy duty jackets and slip into light cozy winter layering. So being in tune with the weather, I wore this distressed denim pencil skirt which has a frayed hem. I have paired the skirt with a cropped gingham shirt, which is my most favorite among all the check prints. The red and navy blue shade of the shirt added a much needed pop of color to the outfit. Pencil skirts are my current favorite, love how one can transform the look from a formal office wear one by pairing it with a shirt to a laid back casual one by throwing on a simple tee.

I have accessorized the outfit with yellow reflective aviators to go with my golden spiked necklace. To complete the look, I decided to keep the other accents in neutral color, so opted for a backpack and ankle length boots in tan.

The Grunge Look!

Hello Chicas,

Today's OOTD is a grunge look, a style based on the music scene around 90s which saw the beginning of rock music made popular by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam. The main idea behind the grunge fashion is an unkempt messy look created with inexpensive clothing. This style combines elements of punk mixed with working class clothing.

Here are a few ways on how to rock the grunge look:

  • To work out a grunge look, all you need to do is revisit your wardrobe and find out those super old worn out clothes which you have discarded. You can also pay a visit to the local thrift shops in your city or go street shopping.
  • Go for ripped, super torn denims which are actually a trend now. You can also rip your own denim for a more authentic grunge look.
  • Say yes to layering. Add an old sweater or plaid shirt over a casual tee or dress or tie it around your waist.
  • Grunge footwear mainly includes sneakers and converse. Invest in a pair of chunky combat boots which you can pair with torn stockings or colored knee high socks.
  • Go for a messy hairdo, wear it loose, or you can even bleach it to go with the unkempt look. Makeup wise, go heavy on the eye makeup. The dark smudgy Gothic look goes best with this style. If you don't want to opt for heavy eye makeup, you can add a bold red or maroon lipstick.
  • Last but not the least, don't forget to flaunt the "I don't care" attitude which is the main message behind the grunge style.
Coming to my outfit, I'm wearing a maxi T-shirt dress with a thigh slit. Whether it's the charcoal gray color or the Ed hardy inspired rose and skull print, the dress speaks super grunge to me. I have added a red plaid shirt around my waist to layer the outfit. Accessory wise, leather combat boots and my super exploited black back pack completed the look. I left my hair open and added a bold red lip color to elevate the grunge look.

Damsel in Distress-ed!

Hello Chicas,

Today's OOTD is what I wore for shopping few days back. The weather here in Calcutta has been insanely hot and humid since last week. In fact, it seems like Summers are back in this city. As it was a shopping day out, I chose to dress up in a casual attire and clicked a few pictures to share with you all.

I went for this ripped denim joggers which is extremely comfortable due to its relaxed fit. I prefer wearing boyfriend denims or ones with relaxed fit as it goes well with my body type. I have paired up the joggers with a bright orange tank top which can be tied around the waist. I personally love wearing bright and bold shades and also mixing different colors. Sneakers are a big thing right now and no I'm not talking about pairing it up with a casual sporty outfit or the look I'm sporting here. People nowadays dressed up in top to toe couture are following it up with sneakers. Now isn't that cool? I totally love the idea as it's a more comfort oriented trend and I'm so eager to try it out. I finished my look with black and white flatform sneakers. I was never really a shoe gal until I saw this one online, sneakers with a little height was just what I was looking for. My recent sale pick, a black backpack completed this sporty casual look.

Midi affair!

Hello chicas,

Sorry for the delayed post, I happened to break my hand few days back and hence was on bed rest for days. I did a hair makeover before my birthday and finally went for a proper hair cut after years, believe me for the past 2 years I had been going for the regular 1 inch trim. :D I know that sounds crazy but. I just couldn't part ways with my straight mane. So this time I went for layers which kind off adds volume to my hair and now my hair is back to its previous wavy look. Also, all this time getting bored at home, I came up with the idea of coloring my hair. I remember, I colored my hair for the first time back in high school. This time I chose fashion lights from Schwarzkopf in the shade L55 which is a copper blonde shade. I did some low lights with the help of aluminium foil and was quite satisfied with the result.

Coming to the OOTD, I'm wearing a midi skirt which was a recent sale pick and it was an absolute steal. I love the white color and the lace floral detailing on the skirt. Midi skirts are a rage this season and looks flattering on everyone. For more tips on how to style midi skirts check out one of my previous outfit posts featuring the Marsala Midi skirt here. I have tied around a simple denim shirt for a casual day look and completed the look with blue stilettos.

Fearless in Red!

Hello Chicas,

Monsoon is in full swing here in Kolkata making it impossible to shoot. All I'm doing these days is sitting at home and watching back to back seasons of Game Of Thrones and I'm totally in love with it. I'm awestruck by the grandeur of the places it has been shot in, the intriguing characters and the fashion, from royal medieval inspired gowns to elegant hairdos.

Coming to the OOTD, this is one outfit which worked out the way I had planned in my head. The red asymmetrical wrap skirt is a recent buy from F21, I think I own their entire online collection and they should definitely consider me their brand ambassador. :D :P This wrap skirt can be styled in various ways from a formal shirt to a relaxed Cami. I have paired it up with a tiger print top which has these black chain straps adding a sexy edge to it. The strapy heels I'm wearing are my new found love and a total eye grabber. As the shoe was loud and center of attention, I avoided accessorizing and went with classy red lips and cat eye frames.

Peplum paired with Mini Skirt

 Hello Chicas,

Today's outfit post is on Peplum top. For those who are not aware of the Peplum trend, it's characterized by a flared ruffle around the waistline and was first introduced by Dior. If worn right, Peplum looks flattering on all body types. People who are skinny can wear it to give an illusion of a fuller waistline while those who are curvy can wear it to further enhance their curves without drawing attention to the problem area.

The Peplum top I'm wearing is a recent purchase from Faballey which I won't recommend to anyone as I wasn't really satisfied with the material and quality. The top is in a simple T-shirt form with the ruffle in leather which I have paired it up with a floral mini skirt. I have added some gold accents in the form of gold chain neck-piece and watch. Also, my favorite reflective aviators in yellow completed the look. So glad to finally flaunt it in the scorching heat! So sorry, but you guys will see more of it in the next few posts. :)

Red Tux Jacket with Monochrome Joggers

Hello Chicas,

Firstly, thank you all for your wonderful wishes on my last post. Those sweet words were really encouraging, keep them coming. :)

Winters are at full swing in Calcutta these days and it's the best time to flaunt those long jackets and booties. I'm totally enjoying the cold spell with homemade delicacies by  dearest mommy and shopping online under the blanket.

Coming to today's outfit; I have styled a red tux jacket from Dorothy Perkins which I recently purchased from Jabong. So happy to see international labels finally available online in India. As the tux jacket looked more formal, I have added a monochrome jogger pant to make it a more fun and casual outfit. I hate winters for the monotonous blazers and jackets which I try to make it more lively by pairing them up with printed or colorful bottoms. I'm obsessed with jogger pants these days, they are so comfy that I can actually sleep in it. Apart from the comfort factor, they come in a wide variety so you can style it as per the occasion.

Accessory wise, I have added a red clutch and ankle length suede boots. Also, some arm and ring party to pep up the look.

Plaid And Denim

Hello Chicas,

I am really excited today to share my first outfit post on my very own blog.
Plaid has been one of the most celebrated trends during fall and was huge during the 90’s and now it’s back with a bang. Celebrities  across the world from Taylor Swift to our very own b-town beauty Sonakshi Sinha has been spotted rocking this trend. There are numerous ways to wear plaid from flirty pleated skirts to shirts for a more grunge look. One of the most common ways to style a plaid shirt is tying it around your waist. Well that also helps in hiding cellulite, remember Sonakshi in "keeda" and "desi kalakar" songs where she smartly tied the plaid shirt around her waist to camouflage those thunder thighs.

I have paired a warm plaid flannel shirt with a high waist denim skirt. Now this acid wash denim skirt comes with suspenders which makes it a denim overall outfit. The best part about the skirt is that the suspenders are detachable and hence can be styled in various ways.

There was not much room to accessorize so I have just added a studded envelope clutch which happens to be the most abused purse in my wardrobe. And yellow suede booties to add a pop of color. Another fun part about dressing up in winters are hats. From bowler's hat to berets, these pieces are a staple in one's winter wardrobe. And that's how I finished my look by adding a warm bowler's hat.
