Shirt Dress!

Hello Chicas,

Today I'm sharing with you all the last OOTD of 2015, a denim shirt dress. A shirt dress is an elongated shirt which is worn as a dress and I find it really sexy as it gives the illusion of being dressed up without pants. :D The most amazing part of shirt dresses are that they can be worn in a million ways all year round.

I remember, I wanted a shirt dress real bad but couldn't find the right one. During my hunt I came across this shirt dress online, the indigo color and the light denim material made me instantly click on the buy now button. After receiving the product I wasn't really happy with the big arm holes which is actually trending right now. I personally don't believe in following trends blindly. So the dress remained somewhere stacked below a pile of clothes in my wardrobe until recently when I thought of wearing it as an outerwear beneath a mustard yellow knit. I ditched the belt, which came along with the dress as I wanted more of a laid back casual look.

Coming to the accessorizing part, I have added a tattoo choker necklace, a very popular 90s trend which has made a comeback. Camel backpack and tan combat shoes completed the look. To break the monotonous combination of neutral colors, I wore Mac Rebel, which is a purple-fuchsia shade. Also, not to forget the most important part of the look, the fedora hat. I love collecting hats and I recently bought a beret, can't wait to flaunt it in my next blog post.

Here are a few ways on how to make the most of your shirt dress:

  • Add a few fun accessories like a scarf or a hat to pep up the look.
  • Layer your shirt dress over a colorful sweater or a printed shirt.
  • To combat the cold weather, add a leather jacket or a blazer over it and accessorize it with combat boots.
  • Keep it casual by pairing it with your super comfy slip on sneakers.
  • For everyday work look, add a sleek belt to highlight your waistline. You can also pair a shorter shirt dress with leggings for a more winter appropriate look.

Color Splash!

Hello Chicas,

After a long wait, winter has finally struck Calcutta and I finally got the chance to wear this woolen sweater. Orange is my favorite color and therefore I couldn't afford to let go of this sweater when I saw it online. It turned out to be a great buy, even my mother appreciated my online haul this time, which I have to tell you doesn't happen very often.

I personally love to wear colors and mixing them in contrasting shades. So in today's OOTD, I have paired the sweater with a purple skater skirt which has made a comeback on the blog. It's the best skirt I have till date, the color, fabric, everything is just amazing about it. I avoided accessorizing too much as the outfit itself is loud. My new pair of combat boots completed the look along with black round sunnies. Also, I tried different hairstyles, do let me know which one do you like the best. :)

The Grunge Look!

Hello Chicas,

Today's OOTD is a grunge look, a style based on the music scene around 90s which saw the beginning of rock music made popular by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam. The main idea behind the grunge fashion is an unkempt messy look created with inexpensive clothing. This style combines elements of punk mixed with working class clothing.

Here are a few ways on how to rock the grunge look:

  • To work out a grunge look, all you need to do is revisit your wardrobe and find out those super old worn out clothes which you have discarded. You can also pay a visit to the local thrift shops in your city or go street shopping.
  • Go for ripped, super torn denims which are actually a trend now. You can also rip your own denim for a more authentic grunge look.
  • Say yes to layering. Add an old sweater or plaid shirt over a casual tee or dress or tie it around your waist.
  • Grunge footwear mainly includes sneakers and converse. Invest in a pair of chunky combat boots which you can pair with torn stockings or colored knee high socks.
  • Go for a messy hairdo, wear it loose, or you can even bleach it to go with the unkempt look. Makeup wise, go heavy on the eye makeup. The dark smudgy Gothic look goes best with this style. If you don't want to opt for heavy eye makeup, you can add a bold red or maroon lipstick.
  • Last but not the least, don't forget to flaunt the "I don't care" attitude which is the main message behind the grunge style.
Coming to my outfit, I'm wearing a maxi T-shirt dress with a thigh slit. Whether it's the charcoal gray color or the Ed hardy inspired rose and skull print, the dress speaks super grunge to me. I have added a red plaid shirt around my waist to layer the outfit. Accessory wise, leather combat boots and my super exploited black back pack completed the look. I left my hair open and added a bold red lip color to elevate the grunge look.
