Stripe it right!

Hello Chicas,

Today's post is all about breaking the rules. Remember how you were told to avoid horizontal stripes as it makes you look bigger. Well, it turns about to be one of the many fashion myths. In fact, this particular striped midi dress made me look thinner and taller. The myth here is that the horizontal stripes draw the attention across your body, making you look wider rather than the vertical stripes which elongates one's body. Believe it or not, horizontal stripes look flattering on all body types when styled the right way. Here are a few ways to stripe it right:
  • The trick here is to opt for the right silhouette, and print according to your body type. Taller girls can wear a striped maxi dress or jumpsuit, but for petites, short dress or tucked in shirt with horizontal stripes will work well.
  •  A striped garment should be chosen in such a way that it draws attention to your best assets like a bodycon dress on an hourglass body or a relaxed dress on fuller body type.
  • One can always layer a striped outfit with a bright blazer or a denim jacket to break the horizontal stripe pattern.
  • You can also opt for chevron stripes instead of the normal straight ones to make it more fun.
  • Don't shy away from colored stripes, they are great for summers.
  • For those who are still in two minds whether to try this trend, take baby steps, add monochrome striped heels or a handbag to your wardrobe.
Coming to my OOTD, I wore this monochrome midi dress last year during the summers. The midi length of the dress, small stripes and relaxed fit worked out well for me. The lace detailing on the neckline of the dress made it look even more sexier. As it was a shopping day out, I carried this huge metallic tote and reflective aviators in blue with ruby lips for a pop of color.

Flower Girl!

Hello Chicas,
How are you all doing? It's been a while since I posted an outfit due to my exams. Post that I took a break doing nothing but chilling at home, watching movies, shopping online. :) Moreover the heat these days has made it impossible to go out and shoot.
As the temperature went down a few days back, I took the opportunity to shoot my first summer outfit. Coming to the OOTD, I wore an extremely light and comfy chiffon tunic. I'm so done with floral print, but this particular sunflower print was a total eye catcher. I wore this tunic as a dress by pairing it underneath with black shorts. The tunic being so light and breezy is one of the best purchase this summer.
I have co-ordinated my bag and shoes by wearing a tan shade. The fringe bag is a recent splurge from Koovs India and it's going to be the most abused bag this season. I didn't add anything else as I hate accessorizing during summers. My round olive sunnies with an orange pout completed the look. Enjoy the pics. :)

Summer Jacket

Hello Chicas,

Finally the weather God showed some mercy and Kolkata experienced its first monsoon rain after a prolonged dry spell few days back. Although the weather seems pleasant enough now, but I shot this outfit in immense heat so sorry for the grumpy look. :D

Coming to the outfit, I am wearing a monochrome abstract print dress paired with a super light summer jacket which is actually a chiffon blazer. From corporate event to lunch date this outfit is perfect for a semi-formal look. The bold green shade of the blazer breaks the monotony of the otherwise dull and boring monochrome dress by adding a pop of color. Considering the scorching heat, I tied my hair into a simple pony tail and added an envelope clutch in muted pink to complete the look.
